Could Tyson Chandler be in the Clippers' future?

With just two teams left standing this season, we're starting to hear more and more about what the other 28 teams may look like once next season gets going. The Los Angeles Clippers have plenty of work to do following their disappointing defeat at the hands of the Rockets, and it starts with DeAndre Jordan.

Jordan, as you likely know by now, will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, free to join any team he wants. A report came out a few weeks back that he'd have interest in the Dallas Mavericks. Now another rumor has surfaced, via Tim McMahon of ESPN Dallas, involving Mavs center Tyson Chandler, who will also be a free agent:
A sign-and-trade swap of the centers, which has been mentioned in Mavs front-office offseason brainstorming sessions, would make a lot of sense for all of the involved parties.
So, if D.J. wants to sign with Dallas, perhaps a sign-and-trade essentially swapping Jordan for Chandler would be the best possible solution for all parties involved. Doc Rivers said after the season ended that the Clips would throw a max offer Jordan's way. But if he's not interested, then they'll have to come up with a contingency plan.

With so little cap space available to them this summer, losing Jordan for nothing would be potentially catastrophic for the Clippers. They'd have very few avenues available to improve the roster, which is clearly need of some tinkering. Obviously, they'd prefer Jordan stay, but if he wants to leave there isn't much they can do about it.

Chandler is seven years Jordan's senior, but is still only 32. He's not the elite rebounder, shot blocker or athlete that Jordan is, either, but he's still a tremendous player, and he also brings several things the Clippers would love to have. First and foremost, he has championship experience after having climbed the mountain with Dallas back in 2011. He also has a great history with Chris Paul, dating back to their days together in New Orleans. Chandler also has a reputation as a leader and as a player that brings tremendous toughness, which is something LAC clearly lacked down-the-stretch of the Houston series.

Chandler has stated publicly that he'd prefer to stay with the Mavericks, but surely he'd understand why they may prefer Jordan. McMahon reports that Dallas wants to "do right by Chandler", as a reward for the great couple of seasons he's given them. If he can't stay, what better way to repay him than to send him to a legitimate championship contender in his hometown?
