Following Friday night's 100-73 beatdown at the hands of the Spurs, let's just say the mood surrounding Clipper fans everywhere wasn't an overly positive one. When you factor in the gut-check factor of the way they threw away game two, the ship seemed to have started to sink helplessly into the ocean. The Clips were now down 2-1 in a series they could've easily led 2-0, and there was still another game to play in San Antonio on Sunday. The Spurs were 33-8 at home during the regular season, and hadn't lost at AT&T Center since the Cavaliers took them down way back on March 12th. To say the Clippers faced a daunting task on Sunday would be quite the understatement, indeed.

Paul, Griffin Dominate as Clippers Crush Spurs
So it's weird that the Clippers, despite owning the third-best record in the West and holding home court advantage in at least the first round of the postseason are actually underdogs, but that's where we are. The Spurs are the defending champions and have been playing at an insanely high level for over a month now, so it's not like their status as favorites was unwarranted.

Clippers-Spurs Preview
So the Spurs are taking on the Clippers in what has to be the most widely-anticipated series of the NBA's first round of the playoffs, with game one at STAPLES Center scheduled for Sunday evening. These teams split the season series, winning two games apiece, with L.A. taking the two most recent clashes. However, there was only one meeting this season in which both teams had their full complement of regulars. This was L.A.'s resounding 105-85 triumph in San Antonio back on January 31st. As a way of previewing the upcoming series, let's go back through that game and see what worked well for both sides, and what didn't work so well.

Clippers' Job Done, But What Do They Want to Happen Tonight?
The L.A. Clippers wrapped-up their regular season with a resounding beatdown of the Phoenix Suns in Arizona last night, and now they wait to see their fate.

The Clippers Should Probably Avoid the Spurs
If the playoffs began today (which they don't, so this almost surely means absolutely nothing), the L.A. Clippers would find themselves in a 4-5 matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers. Because Portland has won their division, they'd technically be the No. 4 seed despite having a worse record than LAC. Fortunately, the Clips would still have home court advantage, making the "division champion" distinction exceedingly useless and stupid.
